EduBEST Workshop

The EduBEST Project, funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (2022.08686.PTDC), is dedicated to developing innovative methodologies for assessing performance in the education sector. These methodologies aim to support decision-making at various levels, including local authorities, national policymakers, and educational institutions. The project focuses on measuring efficiency, effectiveness, and equity, by leveraging non-parametric frontier techniques, such as Data Envelopment Analysis, in combination with statistical approaches.

To further these discussions, the University of Porto will host the EduBEST Workshop on 20 June 2025, at the INESC TEC auditorium, in the campus of the Faculty of Engineering (FEUP). The workshop will feature plenary and parallel sessions centered on the evaluation of efficiency and productivity in education and public services. This event will bring together researchers in education economics, public service management, institutional performance, and policy analysis, providing a platform for disseminating research developed within the EduBEST Project and for inviting external researchers to present their work.

Call for papers

We welcome submissions of methodological and applied research that address the measurement, understanding, and improvement of performance, productivity, efficiency, and equity in education systems and public services. Submissions that employ frontier techniques – such as Data Envelopment Analysis, Composite Indicators, Stochastic Frontier Analysis, and other advanced analytical methods – are particularly encouraged.

Abstracts should be submitted via https://edubest.inesctec.pt/submissions/
Each author may submit only 1 abstract for presentation at the workshop.
The presenting author must be identified at the time of submission.

Registration

Registration should be made at https://edubest.inesctec.pt/registration/
Registration includes the coffee breaks, but it does not include the lunch.
There is no fee for attending the workshop.
